Can no follow Links Hurt SEO

Can no follow links hurt your search engine optimization? In general, no. But there are some rare cases when rankings could be jeopardized. One example was given by Google where say you were leaving a ton of no follow comment links on different blogs. Google may choose to take a manual spam action on your website because you left too many.

While this is the case, Google states that they generally just drop no follow links out of their link graph.
