Bing AI is a generative tool that can produce different types of AI-generated content, including text, images, and videos.

Launched by Microsoft in 2023, Bing AI, or bing.com chat, runs on GPT technology, the same foundational model powering ChatGPT, but with Microsoft’s proprietary customizations and safeguards. The key to getting the most out of the platform is to create in-depth and highly specific prompts, indicating precisely what you want the tool to create. The more detailed your instructions, the better the results: Specify tone, style, or constraints to ensure precise outputs.

A common question I get in relation to marketing is, “Can you use Bing AI images for commercial use?” While Microsoft had an explicit “non-commercial use” policy in the past, the company has since changed its terms to enable commercial use of all Bing AI image and text content.

How to Access Bing AI

There are two main tools you can use, depending on the kind of content you want to create:

  1. Bing AI Image Creator for text-to-image content
  2. Copilot for text and image content

No matter how you access the Bing AI generator, if you sign in to your free Microsoft account, you’ll be able to save your chats, maintain a conversation history, and help the tool provide you with more tailored experiences.

Accessing Bing AI Image Generator Through a Web Browser

First, let’s look into how to use Bing AI image generator on a desktop:

1. Go to Bing’s Image Creator.

2. Once on this site, you can select between creating an image or a video. You can also select which model you’d like to use: GPT-4o or DALL-E 3. GPT-4o is better for images that you want to edit or customize, while DALL-E 3 works much more quickly.

3. Next, enter a prompt in the text-to-image field and click Create to generate an image.

4. Click on the images you like to see full-sized versions, and download, share, save, customize, or resize them as you like.

How long does Bing AI take to generate an image? Generally, the Bing AI creator will only take a few seconds to create your image. Sometimes, it could take a minute or more, depending on the complexity of your request.

Accessing Bing AI Through a Web Browser

If you would like more capabilities than image generation, you can use Microsoft Copilot. Here’s how to access Bing AI using this desktop platform:

1. Go to the Copilot homepage and click on Sign in.

2. Follow the prompts to either log into an existing account or create a new one.

3. Enter a prompt to either chat with Copilot or generate text or image content. You also have the option of starting a new chat or uploading an image.

Before you start your search, you can select from one of three modes: Quick Response (ideal for everyday conversation), Think Deeper (suitable for more complex topics), or Smart GPT-5 (which thinks deeply or quickly, depending on the task).

4. Hit the Enter key once done, and Copilot will bring your results in the chat window.

Depending on which mode you choose, your results could take between 2 and 10 seconds to appear on your screen.

Accessing Bing AI Through the Mobile App

You can also download the Microsoft Copilot app on iOS or Android devices. Take the following basic steps to use it:

1. Go to your app store and download the free Copilot app.
2. Open the app once downloaded and choose Continue to create a new account or Sign In.

If you are a Microsoft Edge browser user, you can also access Bing directly from your browser’s home screen. This is perfect for quick research or simple questions.

  1. Open the Microsoft Edge browser
  2. Click the Bing icon in the top-right corner or the sidebar
  3. The Bing AI chat interface will appear, ready for your questions
  4. You can also access it while browsing by highlighting text and right-clicking to “Ask Bing”
