Rich Snippets Breadcrumbs and SEO

Rich snippets are all the rage right now. By adding rich snippets to your website you can get a leg up on the competition and increase your traffic. One of the newer types of rich snippets are those for breadcrumbs. By adding rich snippets to your breadcrumbs you can give Google a clearer idea of what each page is about on your site. Rich Snippets Breadcrumbs and SEO Video

As you can see the rich snippet code is very easy to add to your internal linking breadcrumb structure.

According to Google, “When you mark up breadcrumb information in the body of a web page, Google can identify it and use it to understand and present the information on your pages in our search results.”

Properties
Breadcrumbs can contain a number of different properties which you can label using microdata or RDFa markup. Google recognizes the following breadcrumb properties.

title: The title of a breadcrumb.
url: The URL of a breadcrumb.
child: The next breadcrumb in the hierarchy. The child must be another Breadcrumb item.

As you can see rich snippets breadcrumbs are becoming very important for search engine optimization. Make sure to get your breadcrumbs in place so that Google knows what your pages are about.
