There has been much debate over the Google answer boxes lately. We have also seen that it is showing much more frequently in search results. Last night I noticed a new feature when performing a mobile search. I searched “richest rappers” and the first result was of course an answer box from Google. However there were multiple options to choose from to find the answer I was looking for. For this search there were five options to scroll through to find the answer I was looking for. The options are marked as tiny circles right below the URL, to the left of the “feedback” link Google has in place. They are pointed out with arrows in the image below.
I performed this same search on a desktop and was just given back one option in the answer box. It is interesting to see that Google is doing this on mobile, but not on desktop. Below is an image for the second option in the answer box, as I swiped to the next option. What are your thoughts on Google using multiple sources for the answer box on mobile search?
