In this edition of Marketer of the Week, Ignite Visibility spotlights Ginger Woolridge, head of growth at Lightyear.
Ignite Visibility applauds her for her leadership efforts and extensive contributions both in finance and in marketing.
Ginger Woolridge
Ginger Woolridge joined the Lightyear team in January 2021 after a 5-year career in finance and quickly climbed the ranks as the company’s Director of Growth.
Equipped with a background in private equity debt investing, she brings an analytical and tactically skeptical mind to Lightyear—a young startup that recently raised its Series A.
As the sole member of the growth team, Woolridge has become instrumental in driving ROI across SEO/content marketing, referral channels, and PPC.
These channels have created a flywheel growth effect for Lightyear, with the company’s ARR up 4x in 2021 and monthly top-of-funnel conversions increasing 3x.
Woolridge has managed to keep all three plates spinning in good fashion while also leading the build-out of Lightyear’s analytics stack/CRM, creating and authoring their monthly telecom newsletter, and keeping both the Lightyear team and its investors informed of growth progress along the way.
Coming in with limited knowledge in the telecom space, Woolridge has grown into a well-rounded growth and telecom expert, going so far as to create key search asset pieces of content for the company including a Guide to Dedicated Internet Connectivity, which has driven multiple conversions since publication.
Woolridge’s colleagues describe her as a hard worker who is always eager to take on the next project. For example, this summer, she is managing 3 interns for the Lightyear team while also serving as the de facto “head of culture.” The first team event she led was a virtual “Derby Race,” which garnered rave reviews from participants.
Around the office, Woolridge is known for her “team first” mentality, “work hard/play hard” attitude, and the humble approach she takes to every problem. In fact, she views each challenge as an opportunity rather than an obstacle.
Her grit, wit, and (data) integrity enable her to make fast, realistic, and ROI-driven marketing decisions while also keeping the team in good spirits.
Lightyear
Lightyear was founded in 2019 by two co-founders who are striving to build a modern CRM for network infrastructure to minimize purchase processes.
Trusted by leading institutions like Curology, One Florida Bank, STG Logistics, and Roadrunner, Lightyear was founded by a team of telecom outsiders who wanted to challenge the status quo of the industry.
Instead of dealing with botched implementations and hours of sales calls, Lightyear offers software to seamlessly power your telecom lifecycle from procurement to renewal.
Put simply, that means you can buy and manage your network services right from the internet.
Users can configure their service online, get validated best-price quotes, have their implementations managed, and even have their future maintenance issues and renewals handled automatically by Lightyear.
Essentially, Lightyear allows you to automate tedious tasks so you can focus on what really matters in your business.
Ginger Woolridge’s College Education
Woolridge has an impressive educational background that spans a variety of institutions and subject matters that all lend to her finance and marketing expertise.
She attended Institute Paul Bocuse in 2013, an International School of Culinary Arts in Écully, France, followed by the University of Westminster in 2015 where she majored in art history.
In 2016, Woolridge earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University, where she majored in finance.
