Alan Bush joined AMA San Diego’s monthly podcast This Week in Marketing to cover an important topic that many businesses face: Reputation Management.

Reputation Management Show Recap:
In part 1 one of the podcast, Alan discusses his role as VP of Strategy at Ignite visibility and our reputation management processes. He then touches on the business value behind reputation management. Alan also talks about personal and business branding. It’s important to focus on both personal brand reputation management and company brand reputation management as there is a major difference between the two!
Alan brought up a ton of great tools, including one called knowem.com.
Here is a list of other tools that can assist with social media and reputation management:
- Google Alerts, tracks mentions of your name and brand
- Ifttt.com, an automation tool that connects to multiple devices and platforms
- Hootsuite, a tracking tool for social media management
In part 2 of the conversation, Alan covers when to hire someone for reputation management. Alan emphasizes the importance of reviews for SEO and gets into some of the differences between local and national rankings. The hosts then briefly discuss how to put reviews on your website in order to improve rankings.
Part 3 of the discussion focuses on the impact that responding to reviews has on local SEO and SPOILER ALERT according to Google, it helps. We then talk about negative reviews and how and when to properly respond to them.
In the final discussion, Alan talks about the challenges that businesses may face along the way and some solutions. We then dive into how to deal with reviews that are coming up on branded search results.
