If you are one of those people who think it is a good idea to blast as many links at a website as possible, it might be time to take a deep breath, relax and rethink your strategy. Google has made it clear that by the end of the summer, those with poor links pointing at their website will be less likely to show up in search results.
Based on recent data I can tell you that less has truly become more. It appears that Google is favoring websites with a small amount of quality, high PR links over sites with many links, and in that pool of links, some are very low quality.
As the industry progresses, it will be fun to watch as things move more towards pure marketing, excellent content and clean onsite optimization. Less will truly be more, as long as your less frequent efforts are high-quality. This goes for content, linking, social and pretty much most all other pieces of search marketing.
